Easy Tater Tot Casserole Recipe: One-Pan Magic

This easy, cheesy tater tot casserole is the ultimate one-pan comfort food. Made with ground beef, frozen tater tots, and creamy soup, it’s perfect for busy nights, picky eaters, and make-ahead meals.

Ingredients
  

Main Ingredients:

  • 1 lb ground beef or ground turkey
  • 1 can 10.5 oz cream of mushroom soup
  • 2 cups frozen mixed vegetables peas, corn, carrots
  • 1 ½ cups shredded cheddar cheese sharp preferred
  • 1 bag 32 oz frozen tater tots
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Optional Add-ins:

  • ½ onion finely chopped
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • ½ tsp smoked paprika
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce

Instructions
 

Step 1: Preheat Oven

  • Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).

Step 2: Cook the Ground Beef

  • In a large skillet over medium heat, brown the ground beef until fully cooked. Drain excess grease.

Step 3: Combine the Filling

  • Add cream of mushroom soup, frozen vegetables, and optional seasonings to the beef. Stir until fully combined.

Step 4: Assemble the Casserole

  • Transfer the beef mixture to a 9x13 baking dish. Spread evenly. Sprinkle with 1 cup of cheddar cheese. Arrange tater tots in a single layer on top.

Step 5: Bake

  • Bake uncovered for 35–40 minutes, or until the tater tots are golden brown and crispy.

Step 6: Finish and Serve

  • Sprinkle the remaining cheese on top and bake for another 5 minutes, or until melted. Let rest for 5 minutes before serving.

Notes

 

  • You can substitute cream of mushroom soup with cream of chicken or cheddar soup.
 
  • For extra crunch, top with French fried onions or crushed crackers during the last 10 minutes of baking.
 
  • Want it spicy? Add a pinch of chili flakes or a layer of jalapeños before baking.
